Ruling Ming's daughter says that in chinese chemistry labs, if you do it right, then you would say "we found" or "we did this." In America, students are more apt to say "I" instead of "we." There's a personal accountability, a personal stake, in American schools.
She also says that the Chinese way of learning is to write down everythingthe teacher says & memorize it to regurgitate iton test. There's very little creativity and no discussion. If someone would raise hand their and say "I think you're wrong," the teacher would get angry. She had to learn to overcome that when she came and studied in America.
